Colder winters freeze the Thames, the Baltic and the lagoon of Venice. Students use the Weather of History layer to explore frost fairs, failed harvests and a volcano in Iceland, and ask how climate shaped wars, food and daily life between 1600 and 1789.
Una llamada de la historia · nuevo
The morning of 30 January 1658
The Swedish army camp near Korsør, Denmark
“You must decide whether to lead the Swedish army across the frozen straits of the Great Belt to attack the Danish islands, or to stay on land and seek another way to force Denmark to surrender. Crossing the ice could bring a quick victory, but it is dangerous and uncertain. Staying safe may mean a longer war.”
Should I lead my army across the frozen sea, or choose a safer but slower plan?
