Ein Anruf aus der Geschichte · neu
The start of the Java War, spring 1825
Near Yogyakarta, central Java
“You must decide whether to lead a rebellion against the Dutch colonial government. If you fight, there is hope of freeing your people from unfair taxes and restoring Javanese rule, but many lives could be lost and the Dutch are powerful. If you do not fight, Dutch control and forced policies may continue or even grow stronger.”
Should I risk everything and lead a war for independence, or seek another way to resist Dutch rule?

No Rule History ruler comes from Java. Play Tokugawa Ieyasu, who allowed Dutch traders into Japan from 1609 but kept them under tight control. Discuss: why could Japan keep the Dutch at a distance, while Java came under Dutch rule?
