Un appel de l’histoire · nouveau
The evening after meeting the French embassy, 1685
The royal palace, Ayutthaya
“You must decide whether to welcome the French offer of friendship and allow their soldiers into Siam, or to keep them at a distance. Accepting could bring new trade and powerful allies, but it may also upset local nobles and other foreign traders. Refusing could keep peace at home, but might lose a chance to strengthen the kingdom.”
Should I accept the French offer of soldiers and friendship, or keep them out of my kingdom?

Rule History has no Siamese ruler, so play Akbar, who ruled the Mughal Empire while Ayutthaya traded across the Bay of Bengal. Let students take turns ruling. Then compare how Akbar and the kings of Ayutthaya dealt with foreigners and many faiths.
