Un appel de l’histoire · nouveau
November 1854, her first week at Scutari Hospital
Scutari, across the Bosporus from Constantinople (now Istanbul, Turkey)
“You must decide where to begin. The hospital is overcrowded and dirty, with many wounded soldiers suffering from disease. You have only a small team of nurses and limited authority. Should you focus your efforts first on sanitation and cleaning, or on improving food and supplies?”
Which should I make my top priority: cleaning and sanitation, or better food and supplies for the soldiers?

Play Catherine the Great in Rule History, starting with her round on the Black Sea. She took Crimea in 1783, and Sevastopol was founded that year as a naval base. Discuss: why was Crimea still worth a great war 70 years later?
