Un appel de l’histoire · nouveau
Late spring, 1632
Agra, on the banks of the Yamuna River
“You must decide whether to begin building a vast white marble tomb for Mumtaz Mahal, which will require the best craftsmen and great expense. If you choose to build, it will show the world your devotion and the empire’s glory, but it will also cost much and take years to complete. If you do not, you may preserve the empire’s wealth and avoid burdening your people, but her memory may fade more quickly.”
Should I begin building the Taj Mahal, or should I hold back for the sake of the empire’s resources?
