One evening in the state of Lu, about 500 BC
Qufu, state of Lu (now Shandong, China)
“You must decide whether to continue teaching your followers about proper conduct, respect, and virtue, or to seek a government position where you might put your ideas into practice. Each path has risks. Staying a teacher spreads your ideas slowly, but seeking office could let you make real changes, if rulers listen.”
Should I focus on teaching, or try to become an official again?
