For six centuries Khmer kings ruled mainland Southeast Asia from Angkor, beside the great lake Tonle Sap. Students explore Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, the water that fed the city, and the debate over why it was left behind.
Una llamada de la historia · nuevo
Late 1181, soon after driving out the Chams
Angkor, north of the Tonle Sap lake
“You must decide how the king should use the kingdom’s resources after a long war. Temples honor the gods and show royal power. Roads connect cities and help armies move. Water works like reservoirs and canals help feed the people and protect against drought. Resources are limited, so you must choose what to build first.”
Should I first build temples, roads, or water works to restore and strengthen the Khmer Empire?
