Norse settlers sail ever further west: to Iceland, to Greenland and, around the year 1000, to the coast of North America. Students follow them island by island, meet the peoples who already lived there, and ask why Vinland was given up.

Un appel de l’histoire · nouveau
Late summer, about the year 1004
The Norse camp at Vinland (L'Anse aux Meadows, Newfoundland)
“You must decide whether to keep trying to settle Vinland or return to Greenland and Iceland. Staying could mean more trade and new farms, but also more danger if conflict grows. Returning means giving up on this new land, but it may be safer for the group.”
Should we try to stay in Vinland, or is it wiser to leave now and return home?
